Book Review & Giveaway: Turn to Me by Becky Wade

About the Book:

His promise will cost him far more than he imagined.

Guilt has defined Luke Dempsey's life, but it was self-destructiveness that landed him in prison. When his friend and fellow inmate lay dying shortly before Luke's release, the older man revealed he left a string of clues for his daughter, Finley, that will lead her to the treasure he's hidden. Worried that she won't be the only one pursuing the treasure, he gains Luke's promise to protect her until the end of her search.

Spunky and idealistic, Finley Sutherland is the owner of an animal rescue center and a defender of lost causes. She accepts Luke's help on the treasure hunt while secretly planning to help him in return--by coaxing him to embrace the forgiveness he's long denied himself.

As they draw closer to the final clue, their reasons for resisting each other begin to crumble, and Luke realizes his promise will push him to the limit in more ways than one. He'll do his best to shield Finley from unseen threats, but who's going to shield him from losing his heart?

My Thoughts:

Turn to Me by Becky Wade finishes the Misty River Romance series with a story that made me smile, cry, and pray. Wade’s smart, polished writing drew me into the characters’ lives immediately. Finley, especially, captured my admiration. She’s passionate and unafraid to speak truth. Initially, I cringed at her plan to rehabilitate Luke, but her heart for healing and restoration overcame my reluctance. Luke, the handsome, broken hero juxtaposes Finley’s character in several aspects, making the romantic chemistry between them delectable.

Being able to identify with Finley’s recent loss of her father and Luke’s deep sense of guilt made Turn to Me an especially powerful story to me. On page 204, Finley declared, “None of the love He [God] has for you is conditional. It doesn’t hinge on your actions or my actions. And thank God for that. You’re loved by Him. And you’re forgiven.” I needed that quote. Turn to Me possesses several good themes, but that one made me put down the book to sob and pray. A case of reading the right book at the right time.

Turn to Me by Becky Wade will likely land in my top ten reads of the year and stands as my favorite novel in this series. 5 Stars!
