Once a successful gourmet chef, Finn’s biggest concern now is making his rent, but half the time Callie doesn’t remember to pay him. And as she starts to feel better, she leads him on wild goose chases to find a Christmas date for her granddaughter.

When Finn meets Sydney, he’s quite sure that she’s never needed help finding a date. Does Miss Callie have an ulterior motive, or is this just a mission driven by delusions? He’s willing to do whatever he can to help fulfill Callie’s Christmas wish. He just never expected to be a vital part of it.

We often sing that Jesus was born on a silent night. But how could it possibly have been silent if Jesus was born in a manger, surrounded by animals celebrating His birth?

Explore what the night could have been like if all the creatures and people celebrated the birth of Jesus in their own God-given, special ways in this new twist to the Christmas story.

My Thoughts:

The Silent Noisy Night, written by Jill Roman Lord and illustrated by Kelly Breemer, is an adorable children's book. The padded hardback covers and sturdy pages are ideal since it's best suited for children under 4 years old. The colorful illustrations evoke an sense of celebration and joy. The lilting narrative is sure to engage little ones, especially if the reader makes all the animal sounds.

Since having children, I've told my husband that there's no way it was a silent night when Jesus was born and I like the idea of creation celebrating in response to the birth of Jesus. Much of the book has illustrations reflecting the night of Messiah's birth. However, the last few pages have illustrations of kids participating in modern-day celebrations and I really liked that as I think it could help them connect these things we do (singing Christmas carols, giving gifts, etc.) with the Christmas story.

This book is a Christmas gift for my three year old, so she hasn't seen it yet and I can't add in her reactions, but I'm pretty sure she's going to enjoy this book.
