My Thoughts:

I loved listening to One on One by Gary LeVox, former lead singer of Rascal Flatts! In the One on One EP, Gary Levox offers songs showcasing his Christian faith. The music is less country sounding than I expected, but with his trademark vocal talent and encouraging lyrics, this album has become a new favorite in my house. My thoughts on each song below.

• A Little Love (featuring MercyMe): This song has a pop sound that falls in line with mainstream contemporary Christian music. The lyrics focus on showing love to others and features a paraphrase from 1 Corinthians 13 that I find myself singing over and over.


• Never Forget (featuring Jonathan McReynolds): Never Forget is one of my favorite two songs on this EP. This song of faith in the dark days draws on ideologies in the book of Psalms and would fit perfectly in with the Psalms. I will share my favorite lines of this song: “My soul still remembers what my eyes can’t see / And my heart still rejoices in that memory / My today is witness to our history / Jesus, I’ll never forget what you’ve done for me.”


• While I Wait (featuring Brittany LeVox): This duet of Gary and his daughter, Brittany LeVox, also places in my top two songs in this project. This song doesn’t shy away from the pain of life, but holds to faith in God’s healing and hope for a brighter day. Brittany’s gorgeous voice is on full-display and makes me wish for an album by her!


• All I See (featuring BRELAND): All I See is perhaps the most country-sounding song in One on One. The song is a raw-edged prayer asking for help to focus on God and His directives – a timeless message for every Christian alive.


• The Distance: This song is the perfect capstone for One on One. It combines all the hope, faith, and encouragement of the other songs while declaring truth and inspiring perseverance in the lifelong journey of walking in relationship with God.

Final Thoughts: I enjoyed every song in One on One by Gary LeVox and recommend it to anyone who enjoys contemporary Christian music that offers timeless Christian messages while addressing life issues.

Science Diet Ideal Balance Cat Food: Product Review

I love my cats. For many years I fed them the cheaper brands of cat food. It was not until I had a cat diagnosed with heart disease that I found out more information about feline nutrition. Basically, protein is very important (it's what they would be eating if they were in the wild) and grains can be hard for them to digest. Since that time, I've tried to do better in making sure they get the proper nutrition to keep them as healthy as possible.

Science Diet has a new line of cat food available called Ideal Balance. It features fresh chicken as the first ingredient, fruits and veggies as secondary ingredients and is free of corn, artificial flavors and preservatives. It is conveniently available in the Kitten, Adult and Mature Adult varieties.

When I gave my cats this dry food, they enthusiastically ate it. This is actually nothing new. They do that with all cat food. But, I was pleasantly surprised to find that as the days went by and they continued eating the food, there was less throwing up from one of our cats who apparently has a sensitive stomach. I have no doubt the switching of brands is what caused her throwing up to lessen. Although Science Diet does cost more than other brands you can find in the big box stores, the higher price is worth it to be able to give my cats good nutrition.

Product Review: Dr. Scholl's For Her High Heel Insoles

I love wearing high heels... and not just because I'm 5'0”. But even the nicest high heels can sometimes cause foot pain. Dr. Scholl's For Her High Heel Insoles are doing their part to ensure that women can wear glamorous heels as long desired and feel good too. These particular insoles are designed to alleviate high heel discomfort by adding padding and arch support without appearing unattractive.

I've never used any sort of shoe insoles prior to trying out Dr. Scholl's For Her High Heel Insoles, but the insoles do make wearing my high heels more comfortable. Because of my lack of experience, it took me at least thirty minutes to get used to having them in my shoes, but now I can slip on that pair of shoes and it feels perfectly normal to have them in it.

The clear gel insoles stick to the shoe and are small enough that they stay right under each foot. These photos show me wearing the shoes with and without the insoles. The insoles are removable so they can be used in more than one pair of shoes, but I don't recommend doing that too often. They lose some stickiness after being pulled off and reapplied so many times. Also, before you put in the insole, make sure the shoe is completely free of dust or dirt that will affect the ability of the insole to adhere properly.

Product Review: Heelys

The first thing I noticed when I opened my package of Heelys was the styling. They looked just as good in person as on the website. Purple is my favorite color. So take the black shoes with the purple accents and you have a design that I think is pretty sleek. My husband even commented that they looked nice and “not as large as Heelys used to be.”

I followed the directions to put in the rollers, thinking how easy it would be to glide around. Let's just say that rollerblading when I was younger did not quite prepare me for Heelys. Learning how to balance was relatively easy for me, but keeping my balance while moving forward was a bit harder. After a couple of tries, I still need a lot of practice before I start doing any awesome tricks, but they are fun and I intend to take them down to the park where the concrete is smooth. I don't think they'll give me strenuous exercise, but they'll probably be the equivalent of walking, which is good enough for me!

If I could change one thing about my Heelys, it would be for the manufacturer to make half-sizes. I am a solid size five-and-a-half. I didn't want to order the size five because I knew if they were too tight, I wouldn't want to use them. So, I ordered the size six. It is a little large, but the laces make it tight enough that it's not a problem. Overall, Heelys has a product that is well-made and fun to use!

Covergirl's New Natureluxe Products

I am not a heavy makeup user. Generally, I use it to conceal flaws or for special occasions. I confess that I started using one brand of cosmetic products (not Covergirl) as a teen and never really switched to anything else. I didn't use much makeup, liked what I had used in the past, and saw no reason to switch. That being said, I recently enjoyed two products from Covergirl's natureluxe cosmetics line that have given me a reason to switch from the old brand.

Thanks to the lovely people over at BzzAgent, I was able to receive a sample of Covergirl natureluxe liquid silk foundation, number 310. This particular foundation was SPF 10 and I liked that. I live in Florida and am fair skinned, so I can use all the help I can get to protect my skin from the sun. As for application and coverage, I found it pretty standard, but enjoyable to use. I am pleased to say that it actually smelled nice. Certain other products by other companies have a smell that is not necessarily offensive, not nice either.

I was really impressed by the natureluxe lip gloss balm, number 215, that I received. When I first looked at it, I thought it was lipstick. I wear lipstick like once a year, so I was kinda disappointed, but decided to try it anyway. I was pleasantly surprised and took another look at the container. Indeed, it wasn't lipstick. It was “gloss balm.” The product produces the appearance of lip gloss, but feels like a lip balm. The product kept my lips moist for hours and had a spf 15 rating. The color faded much quicker than the moisture, but I still enjoyed the product. I actually prefer to just have my natural lip color anyway.

Covergirl has given me a reason to switch from my old brand. Although I received this product as a sample, I would be willing to pay money for it.

The Kodak ESP 9 All-in-One Printer

The Kodak ESP-9 is a new printer produced by the well-known Kodak Eastman Company and sold through chain stores such as Best Buy. The printer features the ability to print photos, scan documents, copy documents and fax documents. The two inch LCD screen is a nice aspect, but I personally am not that impressed by it. Navigating the menu options on the screen is done by the touch-sensitive buttons beside the screen. The printer has two trays. One is used for standard size letter paper and one is used for photo paper that is 5x7 or smaller. Wireless capability is one of the best features of this printer. It can operate on a local network and I can print from anywhere in the house without having to connect my laptop to the printer.

I bought my Kodak ESP-9 in the beginning of April 2010 from the local Best Buy. It retailed for $249.99; however, between the two promotional discounts, I paid $129.99 for the printer. I think that is a reasonable price for the features of the printer. I certainly would not have bought this printer for the retail price. Replacement ink cartridges cost less than $10 making the replacement ink quite affordable.

My biggest complaint about this printer is the time it takes to turn on and the pre-printing time it takes to get going. The actual print speed is not bad and it has decent photo printing quality. However, when you turn the printer on, it takes a good minute at least to turn on. Then when you print, it takes a lot of time warming up to do the print. It also makes a lot of noise while it is getting ready to print.

This printer certainly can not be considered energy efficient with all the lights that stay on continually while the printer is on. I usually keep it unplugged from the wall when not in use.
