I Love My Freedom to Read!

Book Blogger HopEvery week Crazy-for-Books hosts the Book Blogger Hop. Participants answer a question and then visit other blogs of fellow participants. This week's question is:

“In honor of Banned Books Week, what is your favorite banned or frequently challenged book?”

My answer: We've been having a lot of discussion lately about Banned Books Week in my classes at USF.  Without question, my favorite "challenged" book is To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee. I'm not sure if it was actually banned or not. Read more about Banned Books Week here.

What about you?

  1. I really like Harper Lee's To Kill a Mocking Bird a lot also-it is hard to imagine educators wanting to ban that book but I guess it did happen-thanks for hopping by my blog!

  2. @mel u

In high school was when I actually read it. It certainly does have difficult issues in it, but it is certainly worth reading!

  6. A classic that just begs to be read. And I have to say I enjoyed the film starring Gregory Peck, too. :) Thank you for visiting my blog and happy Banned Books Week!

  7. I vaguely remember reading To Kill a Mockingbird in high school. It's one of those books that I keep meaning to go back and read because I don't really remember it, but it seems to be so popular.

  8. I had to read To Kill a Mockingbird in 9th grade. Despite being an English major I never really got into the classics as much! Weird I know! Guess I started reading paranormal too early! (When I was 13 in 7th grade!)

    Thanks for visiting my blog!

  9. A few people picked To Kill a Mockingbird. That is one of my husbands favorite books but I have yet to read it.
    Shame on me!
