Book Excerpt

Sarah shook her head in an adamant showing that the option was not on the table. “Pete isn’t staying. He has a new job in Phoenix and he’ll never be content living here. And most importantly, I am not opening to a romantic relationship. Especially one long distance with no hope of that ever changing. I was blessed with a good marriage with Mike. I already had my prince charming. Now that he’s gone, I’m content staying single and devoting myself to the ranch and Chloe. I don’t need anything more.” No more heartbreak, that’s for sure. Author Interview

Q: What inspired you to write His Ranch Redemption?

Laurie: I wanted to write a second-chance romance set in a country setting. Once I settled on a horse ranch, I envisioned not an ordinary ranch, but a safe haven for rescue animals. I have a soft spot for all animals: horses, donkeys, dogs, and sheep are at the top of the list. My two adopted rescue dogs are the light of my life. The heroine of His Ranch Redemption runs a horse rescue started by her grandparents. She dedicates herself entirely to caring for her animals and her daughter, Chloe. Love is the last thing on her mind, until her first love returns to town.

Q: How long did it take to write this book?

Laurie: His Ranch Redemption took me about three months to complete. Then the editing process takes another four months or so.

Q: What surprised you while researching/writing this novel?

Laurie: Washington State is vast and full of natural beauty. Also, that horse rescue isn’t for the faint of heart. Many horses have tragic backstories, and I really admire those who step up and care for them.

Q: Do you have a favorite quote from His Ranch Redemption?

Laurie: The opening line of the book, because it sets up a domino effect of hope and healing.

“I can’t believe he’s coming!” Sarah Carmella paced back and forth across the plank floor of the front porch.

Q: When did you first know you wanted to be an author?

Laurie: I’ve always loved reading and making up stories in my head. I finally had the chance to take the time for myself and try writing once my youngest entered seventh grade. Once I started, I was hooked.

Q: Would you share something about yourself that most readers wouldn’t know?

Laurie: I work a day job in the commercial insurance industry.

Q: What are you currently reading?

Laurie: I haven’t started the book yet, but next on my TBR list is The Lost Book of First Loves by Raeanne Thayen.

Q: What is your favorite genre to read?

Laurie: I enjoy reading romance and listening to thrillers on audiobook.

Q: What is your favorite hobby?

Laurie: My favorite way to spend time outside of work and writing is anything outdoors. I love camping and hiking.

Q: What is your favorite season and why?

Laurie: My favorite season is spring because of its promise of fresh starts and renewal.

Book Excerpt

Felix’s muscles seized, though not from fear of demons nor the fright of never seeing his father again. Jesus was leaving. The man who had saved him from his possessed father, and who had saved his father from the demons, strode toward the sea.

Felix kissed his father’s cheek. “I will return.” He raced to the shore.

Jesus chatted with some of his friends near their boat. It wasn’t too late.

“Jesus!” He scrambled closer and threw his arms around the Teacher’s waist. Jesus embraced him as if the squeeze of Felix’s arms wasn’t an intrusion. “Thank you for healing my father.” He let go of the man and stepped back, meeting Jesus’s gaze. A gaze that would live in his dreams forever. “I believe it. I believe you are the Son of the Most High God.”

Jesus smiled as if Felix was a loyal friend. Not someone he had met hours before, but as if he had known him all of his life.

He would treasure Jesus’s broad smile. The smile of the only God who had restored his family and given him a reason to hope.

Author Interview

Q: What inspired you to write Across the Lake?

I enjoy writing about little-known Bible stories and Bible heroes. I prayed to the Lord to show me where to go next in the Bible. I wasn’t finding anything that inspired me to write a book.

My husband and I took a trip to Israel in March of 2023. After four days, our trip was cut short due to a family emergency. Fortunately, I was able to travel around the Sea of Galilee and be where Jesus walked. While I was sitting in a boat on the sea, I knew I had to write about this special place. So many accounts in the Bible came alive as I walked the paths that Jesus strode. “Across the Lake” highlights stories from the Gospel of Mark that transpired around the Sea of Galilee.

There were many “firsts” in this novel. I had never written a New Testament story. I don’t write short stories usually, but there are six in this book, and I had to write about Jesus. I didn’t give Jesus any more words than what He says in the Bible. I used the Disciples and other characters to show the power and compassion of Jesus.

Q: How long did it take to write this book?

I found it easier to write short stories than a longer novel because you have less characters to keep track of and less plot twists to create. I wrote this book in seven months. With the nonfiction portion of this book, I had to schedule time to run the theology and phrasing by trusted theologians who had seminary training.

Q: What surprised you while researching/writing this novel?

We just celebrated Christmas. I think most Christian know that Jesus was born in Bethlehem, and that He grew up in Nazareth. We also know He was crucified in Jerusalem. I didn’t realize the importance that Capernaum played in Jesus’s life. His public ministry was headquartered in Capernaum. When you visit the town, there is a sign “Capernaum-Home of Jesus.”

Peter lived in Capernaum and the ruins of his house are by the Sea of Galilee. Unfortunately, Capernaum is one of the towns Jesus cursed due to its unbelief. I also shouldn’t have been surprised about the role of Capernaum in Jesus’s life because it is prophesied in Isaiah 9:1-2.

Q: Do you have a favorite quote from Across the Lake?

I wrote a poem while rocking in a boat on the Sea of Galilee. One reader told me these words encouraged her heart.

No matter where you are in your life, No matter how small a place that you come from, Or how small a reach you think you have, God can use you. No matter what you’ve been through, or where you have been, God can use you to shine a light for Him.

Q: When did you first know you wanted to be an author?

I didn’t know that I would become an author. I did not grow up in a Christian family, so I knew nothing about God. I didn’t even realize that there was an industry for Christian Fiction. I don’t type either. I hunt and peck my way over a keyboard. I’m also not particularly good with grammar.

I prayed for creativity while creating chapel lessons for elementary school students. I received ideas to write the curriculum, but I also received a desire to sit down and write a novel. That was thirteen novels ago, although only eleven of my stories are published.

Q: Would you share something about yourself that most readers wouldn’t know?

I think I’m pretty boring. I love to bake cookies and sweet recipes. Now that my sons are grown, I freeze a lot of what I bake and ration it out to my husband and myself. I do enjoy driving on quiet country roads, especially during the summer and fall. I pray during those uneventful drive times.

Q: What are you currently reading?

I’m currently reading A Certain Mercy by Linda Dindzans. The book is Biblical Fiction about what the life of the woman caught in adultery might have been and how her life changed when she meets Jesus.

Q:What is your favorite genre to read?

I enjoy Biblical Fiction, but I also like Contemporary Christian Romance. I enjoy the second-chance romance trope and the “caught in a storm” or forced proximity trope.

Q: What is your favorite hobby?

I’m not sure I have a hobby. When I’m not writing, I do teach an occasional chapel lesson to elementary or middle school students and older women. I guess my hobby would be teaching. I also enjoy walking in nature. Living in Wisconsin, that gets harder to do in the winter months.

Q: What is your favorite season and why?

Fall is mesmerizing here in Wisconsin. The tree colors are breathtaking. It is the time of year when wildlife is active. You must be careful to avoid hitting deer or a flock of wild turkeys. Many people decorate with pumpkins and bales of hay. There’s a harvest feel in the air.

Book Excerpt (Chapter 8)

On a date.

A gentle smile lit Shawn’s face. “I could never go to auditions. Or act. For anything. You’re very brave.”

She smirked, bitterness rising. “Or crazy.” It amazed her that he still believed her story, but she appreciated her precious moments of being treated like anyone else before she had to raise her walls again and lose that brief taste of normalcy.

He looked into her eyes. “You’re a different wavelength.”

Violet tilted her head. “What do you mean?”

Shawn paused, studying her with careful attention. “There are colors we can’t see. Beauty that’s outside our visible spectrum. There’s a lot about you that’s not visible to me yet. But I can tell it’s going to be . . . beautiful.”

Violet’s composure began to slip, but she gathered it back like armor, years of practice helping her maintain control. She wasn’t used to hearing kind words that didn’t come with strings attached, or weren’t weapons disguised as compliments. Long ago, she’d learned not to trust what people said, but something in Shawn’s voice made her want to believe him.

“Can we try the hug again?” she asked, taking a tentative step forward. He pulled back. “What if I hug you gently?” She tried to put her arms around him, but he stepped away and looked down at the sidewalk. She waited a moment, patient. “Can you give me a hug?”

He looked up, uncertainty written across his face. Scooting a little closer to Violet, he carefully put his arms around her, creating a circle that held her without touching.

She had never experienced someone being so close without making contact. It felt more intimate than any embrace she’d known.

Author Interview

Q:
What inspired you to write The Sound of Violet?

The story came from conversations with friends about how bewildering dating in Los Angeles was when I was single. I was often naïve and overly trusting in relationships, and I thought, what if I took those qualities and built them into a character who unknowingly falls for a prostitute? The dramatic irony seemed ripe for both humor and conflict.

But what really transformed the story was my research. In my first drafts, I wrote Violet as the typical "empowered prostitute" you see in Hollywood films. When I started talking to organizations that fight human trafficking, I discovered that the vast majority of women in prostitution are actually victims being trafficked. That realization completely changed how I portrayed Violet and gave me a passion for raising awareness about this issue. What started as a romantic comedy became something much deeper—a story about redemption, unconditional love, and seeing people for who they truly are beneath their circumstances.

Q: How long did it take to write this book?

The original version took me about two years to write, but that included extensive research into both autism and human trafficking. I wanted to get both portrayals right, so I spent months consulting with organizations, reading personal accounts, and talking to people with lived experience. For the 10th Anniversary Edition, I spent another year completely revising it—deepening the characters, enhancing the emotional authenticity, and incorporating what I'd learned from making the film adaptation. This story has been evolving for over a decade!

Q: What surprised you while researching/writing this novel?

The biggest surprise was learning the harsh reality of human trafficking. I went into this thinking I was writing a quirky romantic comedy, and I came out with a completely different understanding of exploitation and victimization. I was shocked to learn that there are over 40 million people enslaved worldwide today, more than any other time of history. That number is staggering and heartbreaking.

I was also surprised by the autism community's response during the film production. A mother contacted me because her autistic son had unknowingly dated a woman caught in prostitution, and she was encouraged that I was portraying an autistic person as the hero of the story. Having an autistic crew member consult on the film also opened my eyes to nuances I hadn't fully understood. Those conversations reminded me how important it is to pursue authentic representation.

Q: Do you have a favorite quote from The Sound of Violet?

My favorite quote is when Shawn looks at Violet and says, "You're a different wavelength." Violet asks, "What do you mean?" and Shawn replies, "There are colors we can't see. Beauty that's outside our visible spectrum. There's a lot about you that's not visible to me yet. But I can tell it's going to be . . . beautiful."

That moment captures everything about how Shawn sees the world—and how he sees Violet. Because of his synesthesia, he experiences colors as sounds, so he's always been aware that there's more to reality than what most people perceive. He applies that same openness to Violet. Where others might only see her circumstances and judge her, Shawn sees beyond the visible spectrum. He recognizes that there's beauty and complexity in her that hasn't been revealed yet, and he's patient enough to wait for it.

It's also a beautiful metaphor for how we can see everyone through eyes of hope, believing in the unseen potential in people and trusting that there's more to someone than what's immediately apparent. That's the heart of this entire story—looking deeper, seeing further, and believing in beauty that others might miss.

Q: When did you first know you wanted to be an author?

I've been a storyteller for as long as I can remember. As a child, I created marionette shows and performed for friends and neighbors. I was always the kid making up stories and trying to bring them to life in whatever medium I could. When I went to NYU's film school, I discovered I loved both visual and written storytelling. My senior thesis film, Harlem Grace, was a finalist for the Student Academy Awards, which gave me confidence that maybe I could do this professionally.

But I think the moment I really knew I was meant to be an author as well as a filmmaker was when I started getting feedback from early readers of The Sound of Violet. Seeing how the story touched people, how it made them think differently about autism and trafficking, how it gave them hope, is when I realized that writing wasn't just something I enjoyed; it was something I needed to do.

Q: Would you share something about yourself that most readers wouldn't know?

I'm a morning person to an extreme degree—I often start my day around 3:30 or 4:00 AM when the world is still quiet and my mind is fresh. There's something magical about those early hours when no one else is awake. If I send an email to someone that early, I try to remember to send it delayed so people don’t wonder about my sanity.

Also, I've been to Disneyland over 500 times! I used to write there regularly because being surrounded by story-based attractions fueled my creativity. I'd set up at places like Flo's V8 Diner in Carsland or in front of the castle, and occasionally tourists would give me curious looks. But there was something about being in "The Happiest Place on Earth" that helped me write about hope and transformation, even when tackling dark subject matter like trafficking.

Q: What are you currently reading?

I'm always reading multiple books at once—I like having different options depending on my mood. I just finished Liane Moriarty's Apples Never Fall, which was brilliant. She has this incredible ability to peel back layers of a seemingly ordinary family to reveal all the secrets and complexities underneath. Her work continues to inspire how I approach character development.

Right now, I'm reading Roald Dahl's Boy, a memoir about his childhood. There's something fascinating about seeing how his early experiences shaped the dark whimsy in his later work. I'm also working through Viktor Frankl's Man's Search for Meaning—his insights about finding purpose even in the darkest circumstances resonate deeply with the themes in The Sound of Violet. Understanding how people find meaning through suffering has been profound.

And I'm re-reading Orwell's 1984 because it feels particularly relevant right now. Orwell's exploration of truth, control, and human dignity under oppressive systems makes me think about the different kinds of freedom—or lack thereof—that my characters experience. It's a reminder that being truly free, truly seen as a human being, is something we should never take for granted.

Q: What is your favorite genre to read?

I wouldn't say I'm loyal to one specific genre, but I'm consistently drawn to contemporary fiction that explores the complexity of human relationships and digs beneath the surface of ordinary lives to reveal extraordinary truths. I love authors who create characters who feel like real people dealing with messy, complicated situations, but who write with such empathy and insight that you come away seeing the world differently.

The best writers don't need fantastical settings or high-concept plots to hook you; they just need authentic human emotion and the courage to explore uncomfortable truths. I'm also particularly drawn to stories that balance humor with heartbreak, because that's what real life is like. We need both the laughter and the tears to feel the full weight of a story.

At the end of the day, genre matters less to me than whether a book makes me feel something and helps me understand people better. If it does that, whether it's literary fiction, memoir, or even a well-crafted thriller, I'm all in.

Q: What is your favorite hobby?

I love traveling and hearing people's life stories. There's something magical about sitting down with someone, whether it's a stranger in a café or someone I'm interviewing for my Navigating Hollywood podcast, and really listening to their journey. Everyone has a story worth telling, and I find endless inspiration in those conversations.

I also love playing board games with my family. I've actually created a number of games myself, You're Pulling My Leg! and others, so I love game nights. And of course, taking my kids to theme parks is one of my greatest joys. Seeing the world through their eyes reminds me why I create stories in the first place.

Q: What is your favorite season and why?

I love fall, especially in Los Angeles, where we finally get a break from the heat. There's something about the change in light, the way the golden hour becomes even more golden, that feels creative and reflective. Fall also brings a sense of fresh starts, probably because I still associate it with back-to-school energy. It's the perfect season for curling up with a book, starting a new writing project, or a new book with the Navigating Hollywood groups I lead at the studios. Plus, there's something poetic about a season that's all about transformation and letting go of what no longer serves you, themes that resonate deeply with The Sound of Violet.

More from Valerie

Story ideas invade my mind at the oddest moments. One day as I sorted laundry, I thought how interesting it would be to begin a novel with: “I’d been in the Witness Protection Program for three years when my identity was compromised.”

The idea bubbled and churned in my mind for a while. When I sat down to outline possible scenarios, the ideas hit me like an avalanche. Why was she in WITSEC? Who outed her? I scribbled as fast as I could—yes, I’m behind the times and use paper and pencil to plot my novels.

And so IRO was born. The International Retrieval Organization is my topnotch investigative service, with unlimited resources and experienced operatives.

Weep in the Night is the first novel in my Stolen Lives Trilogy. IRO agents are the heroes or heroines in the series. Which agent will save the day?

Interview with Valerie

Q:
What was the inspiration behind the novel?

Valerie: Possible plots and story ideas are always swirling in my mind as I do mundane chores. One day as I sorted laundry, I generated this opening sentence: “I’d been in the Witness Protection Program for three years when my identity was compromised.”

WITSEC, the Federal Witness Protection Program, has always fascinated me. Now I had reason to conduct research and flesh out my plot. And so IRO was born. The International Retrieval Organization is my topnotch investigative service, with unlimited resources and experienced operatives.

Although I didn’t begin Weep in the Night with that sentence or write in the first person, WTSEC does play a major role in the story. Weep is the first novel in my Stolen Lives Trilogy. IRO agents are the heroes or heroines in the series.

Q: Do any of the novel’s characters hold a special place in your heart?

Valerie: Yes, Sadie, my heroine. She endured so much sorrow and loss, yet tried to continue a life without her family. To top it all off, she had to leave behind friends and everything familiar when she entered WITSEC. Have you ever wondered how difficult that would be? She can’t discuss anything that happened in her previous life. No one to share her memories or accomplishments or dreams for the future. I had to give her hope and a happy ending.

Q: Do you have a favorite quote from this novel?

Valerie: I have many, but this one gives an indication of Sadie’s struggle with a new dream.

Bowen filled the sink and rolled up his sleeves.

A tiny sigh puffed through her (Sadie’s) lips. With his (Bowen’s) muscled forearms deep in suds, he looked nothing like a bodyguard. Images of future domestic bliss warred with her resolve to forget him once she… (I don’t want to give away the plot.)

Q: What do you hope readers take away from this novel?

Valerie: After surviving tragedy, Sadie drove a wedge between herself and God. However, she didn’t hardened her heart. As time passed, she heard and heeded the “still, small voice.” (I Kings 19:12) As she grew closer to God again, she was able to help Bowen in his spiritual journey. As we face hardships, it’s important to remember God never separates himself from us. Even while enduring pain and suffering, we need to be open to His whisper.

Q: In what setting do you enjoy writing the most?

Valerie: My optimal setting is sitting at my desk while music plays in the background, jazz, classical, or easy listening. Occasionally I’ll play a CD— yes, I’m old fashioned and have a three-CD player in my office—with upbeat words or music that I can sing along to just to liven the scene. But usually the words of songs fade as I get engrossed in the act of composing my story.

Q: Where can readers find out more about you and your novels?

Valerie: My website and Facebook author page are my only forays into social media at this time. I love to hear from my readers.

Hooked On You

Title: Hooked On You
Series: Maple Falls Romance #1
Author: Kathleen Fuller
Publisher: Thomas Nelson
Release Date: May 11, 2021
Genre: Contemporary Romance (clean/sweet)

She never wanted to come back. He never wants to leave. The town of Maple Falls has plans for them both.

Riley McAllister is living the dream in New York City . . . if the dream means being a struggling mixed-media artist, part-time food delivery driver, and having a carefully curated social media to hide all of the above. She refuses to admit defeat and move back to small-town Maple Falls, but when her grandmother breaks her leg sliding into third base during a softball game (she was safe, by the way), Riley reluctantly agrees to go home and help the woman who raised her—while secretly hoping she can convince Mimi to sell her house and yarn shop and move in with a good friend. Then Riley can return to her new life in NYC, on her own and for good.

But Mimi has her own plans, which include setting Riley up with local baseball star Hayden Price, who returned to Maple Falls after an injury ended his major league career. Now he works at his father’s hardware store, coaches the church softball team, and worries about the declining town. It’s not the life he dreamed of having.

With a little meddling and a lot of kindness from the town, Hayden and Riley find themselves unexpectedly falling for each other as they discover the true meaning of home.

Welcome to Maple Falls, where everyone knows your name and your business.

AUTHOR INTERVIEW

Q:  What was the inspiration behind Hooked On You?

Kathleen: I love to crochet, and when a dear friend of mine introduced me to Arkansas Yarn Co and yarn designer Lorri Ann Helberg, the idea of writing a story featuring a yarn store was born. Knots and Tangles, Erma and Riley’s shop, is inspired by Arkansas Yarn Co.

Q: How long did it take you to write this novel?

Kathleen:Four months of actual writing, but I do a lot of prewriting in my head before putting anything down on paper. All total probably six months.

Q: Do you have a favorite quote from this novel?

Kathleen:There’s a few, but if I had to pick one it would be this: “The star of his family, the town, his own life. Now he would have to let that go and put someone else first…If she would let him.”

Q: What do you hope readers take away from Hooked On You?

Kathleen:I always want readers not only to be entertained, but to feel that by the end of the book they’ve become a part of the story, and that the characters are like old friends.

Q: Would you share something about yourself that most readers would not know?

Kathleen:Most readers know that I have a hard time with math, but not many know why. When I was a senior in high school I was diagnosed with dyscalculia, a learning disability involving math, spatial concepts, and numerical process memory issues, to name a few. Learning disabilities weren’t often identified back in the 70s and 80s when I was in school, thus the late diagnosis. Having dyscalculia was part of the reason I became a special education teacher.

Q: What are you reading now?

Kathleen: The Heart of Splendid Lake, by Amy Clipston. I’m reading the book for endorsement and really enjoying the story and romance. It releases Sept. 14.

Q: How many bookcases are in your home?

Kathleen: Right now, only two, but I used to have a wall of bookcases when I lived in Ohio. When we had to downsize during our move back to my home state of Arkansas, I had to condense my books. I do have hundreds of books on my Kindle, though.

Q: What do you like to do when you are not writing?

Kathleen:Crochet, reading, and traveling. Sometimes all at the same time! J

Author Interview: Jessica Kate on A Girl's Guide to the Outback!

I am so excited to host Jessica Kate here on the blog today! I recently reviewed her novel, A Girl's Guide to the Outback, which releases today. Read my review of A Girl's Guide to the Outback.

About the Book:

How far will a girl go to win back a guy she can’t stand?

This funny, sweet, and romantic story proves that opposites do attract—and that God has a sense of humor.

Samuel Payton is a passionate youth pastor in Virginia, but below the surface, he’s still recovering from the blow of a failed business and insecurities he can’t shake. His coworker, start-up expert Kimberly Foster, is brilliant, fearless, and capable, but years of personal rejection have left her defensive and longing for a family. Two people have never been more at odds—or more attracted to one another. And every day at work, the sparks sure do fly.

When Kimberly’s ambitious plans for Sam’s ministry butt up against his risk-averse nature, Sam decides that obligations to family trump his work for the church. He quits the ministry and heads home to Australia to help his sister, Jules, save her struggling farm. As Kimberly’s grand plans flounder, she is forced to face the truth: that no one can replace Sam. Together they strike up a deal: If Kimberly comes to work on Jules’s dairy farm and lends her business brains to their endeavor, then maybe—just maybe—Sam will reconsider his future with the church.

As Kimberly tries her hand at Australian farm life, she learns more about herself than she could’ve ever expected. Meanwhile Sam is forced to re-evaluate this spunky woman he thought he already knew. As foes slowly morph into friends, they wonder if they might be something even more. But when disaster strikes the farm, will Sam find it within himself to take a risk that could lead to love? And will Kimberly trust God with her future?

Author Interview:

What was your inspiration for A Girl’s Guide to the Outback?

Jessica: I grew up on dairy farms (the fictional Yarra Plains is based on a Queensland property we lived on), so the farming story is full of anecdotes and details inspired from real life.

As for the love story – I just adore stories where they hate each other at the start! When I wrote early drafts of Love and Other Mistakes Sam and Kim both existed, but I had no thought of getting them together. Then I started thinking about my next book and I realized that they already had a great set-up—Sam would have picked Natalie to work with him over Kimberly, so there was already that little bit of friction between them. So I wrote A Girl’s Guide, and then went back and layered some more details into Love and Other Mistakes before it was published. It was pretty cool to get the chance to set them up the way I wanted.

And Jules and Mick and kind of a gender-swapped alternate history of my parents. My Mum’s from the beach and Dad’s a farm boy. They married at 20 and have spent 30 years compromising on where they live, so this ended up kind of being ‘what if they had decided to go their separate ways at 20?’

How long did it take you to write this novel?

Jessica: First draft was about a year, six months for a second draft, then I was publishing Love and Other Mistakes in between and then a whole nother round of edits. I first started A Girl’s Guide in early 2017.

Do you have a favorite character in A Girl’s Guide to the Outback?

Jessica: Mick! The boy is unashamed of his rainbow crocs and is always there for Jules no matter how much she drives him nuts. I love him. 😊

What do you hope readers take away from this novel?

Jessica: I hope people are challenged to look at how their fears are holding them back from the life God intended, and that they learn to rely on God’s love and let go of those fears.

Can you share a book you are currently reading or have read recently?

Jessica: I’m currently reading Rachel Scott McDaniel’s Above the Fold, another love/hate story!

What hobbies do you enjoy when you aren't writing?

Jessica: Watching movies. Discussing books, tv and movies. Making podcasts on books, tv and movies.  I’m a very social person so I love hanging out with friends and going to visit my family, too.

Who is an author that you would recommend to anyone and everyone?

Jessica: Jenny B Jones! She’s hilarious!

Thanks for taking the time to share with us, Jessica!

A Recommended Podcast: Charles Martin and Annie F. Downs on That Sounds Fun

Not too long ago, I reviewed What If It's True? by Charles Martin. You can read my review here.

Shortly after that, I listened to Charles Martin on Annie F. Downs' That Sounds Fun Podcast. Of course, they discussed What If It's True?, but also lots of other topics. Some fun, some serious.

I always enjoy getting to know more about the authors whose books I read and I thought I would share this podcast with you.  I couldn't find a way to embed it, but here's the link to Annie's site.

Enjoy!
