Sorting Through the Clutter

I like to buy books on sale!

I've bought a lot of books.  Unfortunately, I've never read at least a third of them.  I have some books that I've read over and over because I know they are going to be good.  They are going to draw me in and capture my attention. And then there's those that I bought with good intentions and just never got around to reading for whatever reason...

So, I'm making an effort to read some of the books that I've bought and just never had time to read.  Some of them are old and probably obscure. I plan to post reviews of them on here anyway. Eventually, my goal will be to have a book shelf full of extremely good books. Not only do I not have the bookshelf yet, but I have alot of books to weed through.  Some of them may not survive the cut.  But, I'm done with clutter.

Organization makes me happy.  :)

Character-Like People

There are some people that I've met on the path of life that would make absolutely amazing characters for books.   I'm thinking of two people in particular.  One is a classmate from high school and one is a co-worker from a previous employer.  Both of them are actuaully kind of alike. They are both male, very well-educated, confident, and charming in a backwards sort of way.

Life Is Like A Good Book

I was thinking about my life today and I realized how much life is like a good book.  Life is full of mystery, suspense, drama, romance, spirituality and so many more things that when brought together would create a captivating book.

Specifically, I was thinking of my photography classes that I took last semester. I felt that it was something that God wanted me to do and I thoroghly enjoyed the classes. However, I wonder, why would God want me to take those classes?  I love photography, but is that really a reason God would have me to take a class?  I think there is more to it than God just letting me enjoy a class. I think there was some purpose and I don't know yet what it is.  It's a suspensful waiting that I'm enjoying because I know that at one point I will get to learn the answer.  And I probably won't have to wait to the end of life's book to know what it is!

Writing

The best time for me to write is early in the morning. Right after I've woken up, brushed my teeth and taken care of morning basics. Then I hop to the computer and let it flow out. It just seems like I am more creative and writing is easier at that time of day. Perhaps it's because I've been dreaming all night and occasionally I get some of my writing ideas from my dreams. I can also write better on days that I have the day off from work and can relax some.

Unfortunately, I don't have the chance to ever do this except on Saturday mornings which is why my creative writing gets a lot less attention that the freelance articles I do. I can write them anytime because it's basically just stating facts and research to help someone make an informed decision. After a day at work, I find that my creativity is completely gone. I am empty of anything good and happy. I definitely understand why they call it the daily grind. Because it wears you down in every way - physically, mentally, emotionally, spiritually.

How Great Thou Art

I don't ever want to cease to be amazed by God.

This week we had revival services at church and Friday night, I was really touched. I feel like God spoke to me about answering the calling of God on my life. It was one of the best spiritual experiences I have ever had.

It just amazes me that God cares so much about me. But I'm not the only one He cares about. He loves every person ever created. And speaking of His creation, nature is just amazing. How our bodies work. The beautiful flowers. The gentle breeze. All of it is amazing to me.

A trip to Barnes & Noble

Today I went to the local Barnes & Noble and wished I was a millionaire. If I was, I probably would have bought alot of books from there. But since I'm not, I just looked around and enjoyed being surrounded by books on every side.

While there I noticed a few fiction books that seemed to be about ghosts. I have to confess, I didn't realize there was really a market for ghost fiction. But recently, I read one myself, and I guess it makes sense with the popularity of series such as the Harry Potter books and the Twilight books, that people are interested in books relating to the supernatural.

It was just interesting to me.
