But all she sees him as is a boring attorney and her complete opposite.

“So what made you decide to come work with Rain? You didn’t sound enthused about the job.”
She scowled for a moment. “It’s sort of a compromise for now.”
“How’s that?”
“My father said I need a job. I didn’t have one lined up. He threatened to take my car. Rain offered a position for the summer until I can figure out what I want to do.” She traced the curves in the patterned tile on their table top. “I hadn’t seen Colorado yet, except during a quick family Christmas right after Rain got married, so I decided it would work as well as anything.”
“But you don’t really like wedding planning.”
“Don’t get me wrong. I can see where there’s a market for it. But I don’t understand why. Why focus so much on one day?” She took a drink of her mango thing and enjoyed the tangy creaminess. If he was right about the rest of their dinner, too, she might have to come back here again before she left at summer’s end.
“What are you hoping for when looking for a job?”
A sigh escaped and she leaned back in her wrought-iron chair. “I don’t know. Nothing sounds fun to me.”
“Fun again, huh?”
“Yes. Fun.” She rolled her eyes. “Is there something so bad about wanting to enjoy the job you’re stuck in for the rest of your life?”
“Not at all.” He took another drink. “That’s why I chose law. I love to prove my point and my mom always told me I should put my argumentativeness to good use. So I took her advice. Now I get paid to argue.”
Another giggle escaped. What was wrong with her? Was she really enjoying hanging out with an attorney? Obviously, the thinner air here in Colorado was messing with her head.
About the Author
Amy R Anguish grew up a preacher’s kid, and in spite of having lived in seven different states that are all south of the Mason Dixon line, she is not a football fan. Currently, she resides in Tennessee with her husband, daughter, and son, and usually a bossy cat or two. Amy has an English degree from Freed-Hardeman University that she intends to use to glorify God, and she wants her stories to show that while Christians face real struggles, it can still work out for good.

Q: What was the inspiration behind
Operation Find a Guy?
Amy: Several things. One, I wanted to do a story for each of the friends in my Roadtrip Romance series, and this was Skye’s turn. Two, my family took a trip to Boulder, CO back in 2015, and I decided it would make a fun and unusual setting. Three, Skye needed redemption, and I decided the best way for her to find it was through falling for someone she considered the opposite of what she wanted in life.
Q: How long did it take you to write this story?
Amy: I honestly can’t remember, but not more than a few months of actual writing. Now, thinking about it? That was at least a few years.
Q:. Do you have a favorite quote from this book?
Amy: “Marriage is the best adventure I’ve ever been on.”
“Adventure?” No way. She’d probably just chosen the wrong word in her pregnancy-brained haze.
“You bet.” Abby grinned and paused by the bathroom door.
“I mean, it’s not all the risky things we used to do like mountain climbing or ziplining. We’ve calmed a bit with each baby. But there are still lots of fun moments. And as each child comes along and starts experiencing all the things we already know about, it’s awesome to see the joy of discovery in their eyes.”
Skye’s chest ached as the words sank in deep. “But isn’t it more of the same-old, same-old, each and every day?”
“No way. I can’t remember the last time I had a day that felt just like the one before it. Every day is different. Some bring more laughter, and others come with tears. But the best part of marriage is that I don’t have to do it all alone. If I don’t know what to do, he’s right there to help me figure it out. Or, if it’s something really good, it’s even better because we can share it.” Abby winked. “Keep that in mind.”
Q: What do you hope readers take away from
Operation Find a Guy?
Amy: So many times, we go into situations in life thinking they will be one way, when in reality they can be completely different. Or not nearly as bad … or good … as we expect. Skye does this with her expectations for relationships, jobs, and even the state of Colorado. If you read this story, I hope you can grow with Skye as she realizes not everything is as black and white as she makes it out to be. And sometimes, that makes things better.
Q: Would you share something about yourself that most readers would not know?
Amy: When people asked me what I wanted to be when I grew up, for a long time, I said, “A babysitter.” From there, it went to artist. And then author. And mom. And now, considering I teach preschool, I am sort of all of those, combined. 😉
Q: How many bookcases are in your home?
Amy: Total? Five in the living room (one is a lamp with built in shelves for kids’ books), one in the dining room, one in my daughter’s room, and one in my son’s room. And we probably have enough books to fill up at least one more, but no wall space to put it.
Q: How long ago did you start writing?
Amy: As soon as I could hold a pencil, I was drawing. Once I figured out words, I added them to the drawings. How long ago did I start writing seriously? Somewhere around eighth grade-ish. That was the year my English teacher was also a published author.
Q: What is your favorite thing about being a writer?
Amy: Hearing people talk about my books. Seriously, to hear what they loved (and hated), or a quote or moment that moved them … that is what makes my heart sing. Because something from my imagination meant something to someone else.
Q: What do you like to do when you are not writing?
Amy: Read. I read a lot. I also crochet every now and then. And sew. And garden. And work as a preschool teacher. And work a tax agency too. And teach Sunday school. I’m busy.
