First Line Fridays: Code of Valor by Lynette Eason

Happy Friday!

First Line Fridays is hosted by Hoarding Books and participants share the first lines from a nearby book.

Today I'm sharing the first lines from Code of Valor by Lynette Eason:

"The broker rose from his chair and glared at the imbecile standing on the other side of the desk. 'We paid you well to steal that boat. Where is it?'"

What are you reading this weekend?

Have a great weekend! Happy reading!

About the Book:

She's living proof that what you don't know could kill you

What Detective Brady St. John really needs is a relaxing vacation. Unfortunately, just as the sun is setting on his second day at a friend's cabin on Lake Henley, he hears a scream and races to rescue a woman from her would-be killer. When the killer escapes only to return to finish the job, Brady vows to utilize all of his many resources to keep her safe--and catch those who would see her dead.

Financial crimes investigator Emily Chastain doesn't trust many people. And even though she's trying to cooperate with the detective who saved her life, there are some things she doesn't know--and some things you just don't share with a stranger. Little does she suspect that what she doesn't know just might get them both killed.

  3. That sounds like a fun start to a story!

I'm currently reading The Anatomist's Wife by Anna Lee Huber, a Victorian mystery. Here's the first line: "The scream froze me in my tracks, but the shout that followed propelled me out of my indecision and around the hedge line of the maze."

  4. Happy Friday! I’m sharing from two Carrie Anne Noble books on my blog this week. Here is the second line from The Gold-Son:

“The forest was a forbidden place, spoken of only in warnings and whispers.”
