Book Review: NLT Inspire Bible for Girls

About the Book:

The #1–selling Inspire Bible is a beautiful single-column, wide-margin New Living Translation Bible for coloring and creative journaling that has become a treasured legacy Bible for many. Young girls have enjoyed coloring and creative art-journaling in the Inspire Bible, and now there is an edition just for them!

The new Inspire Bible for Girls is designed to draw girls ages 8 and up deeper into God’s Word and to inspire creativity and connection with God! In addition to the much-loved features of Inspire, the Inspire Bible for Girls includes over 300 devotionals written by bestselling author Carolyn Larsen plus book introductions, journaling prompts, and interesting Bible facts to enhance girls’ coloring and creative journaling journey through the Bible.

Over 500 beautiful full and partial-page Scripture line-art illustrations to color are attractively displayed throughout the Bible. There are lots of pages with open space for creativity in the lightly-ruled, two-inch-wide margins. Girls can leave traces of their faith throughout their Bible for a unique treasure that will truly inspire!

The 8.65-point font is larger and more readable than other coloring Bibles, and the high-quality white Bible paper makes it a great choice for creatively responding to God’s Word right on the pages of the Bible. Instill the joy and value of reading the Bible in young girls’ hearts so they can learn to connect with God and discover valuable truths from Scripture—and ultimately live it out in their lives!

My Thoughts:

When they are a bit older, I think my daughters will love the NLT Inspire Bible for Girls from Carolyn Larsen and Tyndale Publishers. The beautiful cover shimmers and is so girly. I would not consider this a hardcover Bible as it’s cover is more like a sturdy cardstock. However, the provided sleeve adds protection and I expect it to hold it up nicely as long as the sleeve is used.

The Inspire Bible for Girls boasts over 500 illustrations. Many of those are phrases or complete verses taken directly from the Scripture passages on that page. Some of the phrases are accompanied by an additional object (flowers, frame, animals, etc.) to color. I especially liked the divider pages between the books of the Bible. These divider pages offered lots of coloring opportunity while introducing some of the key verses in the upcoming book. Very pretty.

In addition to illustrations for coloring, the Inspire Bible for Girls includes lined pages for taking notes, journaling prompts, and short devotional thoughts. I did not read all of the devotionals, but what I did read seemed appropriate for an older child or teen. It’s written with a traditional, evangelical perspective and often asks questions to prompt self-examination before offering a prepared prayer.

Today I'm sharing the first lines from Where Dandelions Bloom by Tara Johnson:

"Gabriel Avery hit the unforgiving pavement with a grunt."

About the Book:

Cassie Kendrick is on the run. Her abusive father arranged her marriage to a despicable man, but she’s discovered an escape. Disguised as a man, Cassie enlists in the Union army, taking the name Thomas Turner. On the battlefields of the Civil War, keeping her identity a secret is only the beginning of her problems, especially after she meets Gabriel Avery, a handsome young photographer.

Anxious to make his mark on the world and to erase the darkness and guilt lurking from his past, Gabriel works with renowned photographer Matthew Brady to capture images from the front lines of the war. As Gabriel forges friendships with many of the men he encounters, he wonders what the courageous, unpredictable Thomas Turner is hiding.

Battling betrayal, their own personal demons, and a country torn apart by war, can Cassie and Gabriel learn to forgive themselves and trust their futures to the God who births hope and healing in the darkest places?

The Promise of Breeze Hill... for free!

Several months ago I received The Promise of Breeze Hill by Pam Hillman as a reward from Tyndale Publishers' My Reader Rewards Club.

This novel sat in my TBR box for quite awhile because Pam Hillman was a new author to me and I had other things to read by authors I already loved.  However, I finally got a chance to read it today and it was amazing!  It's now sitting in its permanent space on my bookshelf.

So, I wanted to share how I got this wonderful novel for free!  My Reader Rewards Club is the successor of the Tyndale Rewards program. It offers several ways to earn points and then the points can be redeemed for free books -- and they ship for free, too!

One thing I really like is that you do not have to have a huge amount of points to get a good book. They have very reasonable points requirements and I've had only good experiences with this program.

So, go sign up today and start earning free books!
