About the Book:

This month's reading was a bit disappointing. As you can see, several books received only a three-star rating from me. However... Pride & Prejudice by Jane Austen was spectacular, as always, and easily my favorite read of the month.

Expected November 2019 Reads:

In November, I expect to read:

1. Once Upon a Dickens Christmas by Michelle Griep - Generally, I don't like novellas. However, I love Michelle Griep's books, so I'm willing to give this set a try.


2.  The Memory House by Rachel Hauck. - My local book club's pick for this month.


3. The Magician's Nephew by C.S. Lewis - Currently in progress!


4. 100 Extraordinary Stories of Prayer for Courageous Girls - My daughters loved 100 Extraordinary Stories for Courageous Girls so I think they'll enjoy this one as well.


5. Save the Cat! Writes a Novel by Jessica Brody. - Currently reading and enjoying!


6. Silver Willow by the Shore by Kelli Stuart - A new-to-me author!


7. Coral by Sara Ella - I'm a bit intimidated by this book. I've seen so much bookstagram love for Sara Ella's books, but I'm expecting it to be an emotionally difficult read.

Book Review: Unscripted by Davis Bunn

My Thoughts:

Unscripted by Davis Bunn is a stand-alone, contemporary fiction novel. With smooth prose, authentic characters, and a compelling start, Unscripted entices the reader into the glamour and complexity of Hollywood.

The characters in Unscripted are perhaps its brightest star. Megan, one of the main characters, was strong, smart, and easy to admire. Her personality fit flawlessly with her profession and situation. Even the secondary characters perfectly suited their roles and enhanced the story in a meaningful way. Annie, Jennie, Myron, Louisa, and Lane, were just some of the likable secondary characters.  Add to the characters, a mystery and a dash of romance, and you have a good book.

I recommend Unscripted by Davis Bunn to readers who enjoy contemporary fiction with strong characters and an interesting setting. There are subtle Christian values and brief mentions of Megan’s father’s faith, but it’s a light thread, not “preachy” at all.

My favorite book this month was...... The Reckless by Marylu Tyndall! This captivating novel had it all: romance, adventure, suspense, and character development! My review is available here!

5. Courage to See: Daily Inspiration from Great Literature by Greg Garrett and Sabrina Fountain. - Literature combined with a devotional. Can't go wrong with that!


6. We Hope for Better Things by Erin Bartels - Ever since I read (and loved) The Words Between Us, I've wanted to read this one. Fortunately, my library had it available! 


7. The Magician's Nephew by C.S. Lewis - I've wanted to read the Narnia series for some time now and my husband recommended starting with this one.


8. A Distance Too Grand by Regina Scott - A new-to-me author!
