Book Review: The Elusive Truth of Lily Temple by Joanna Davidson Politano

About the Book:

In the search for the truth, the line between fact and fiction is beginning to fall out of focus.

It is 1903, and Lily Temple is a beautiful silent-film actress who spins fairy tales and plays frivolous roles in front of the cine-camera. But beneath the costumes and stage makeup is a woman with a quick wit, a murky past, and a tantalizing secret.

Underground investigator to the wealthy, Peter Driscoll has been tasked with locating the legendary Briarwood Teardrop, an exquisite sapphire that has been missing for years--and which Lily happens to be wearing beneath her gown. In order to stay close to her and unravel the mystery, Peter employs the enchanting actress's help on a case.

But as they are investigating together, Peter is also investigating Lily. The closer he gets to the truth, the more danger they face. And the closer he gets to Lily, the clearer it becomes that he needs her even more than she needs him.

Read an excerpt on the publisher's website.

My Thoughts:

The Elusive Truth of Lily Temple by Joanna Davidson Politano commenced with a time jump (of sorts) that generated lingering confusion for me. I continually questioned how the pieces of the story could fit together while wondering if Lily was telling the truth. The novel has an appropriate title, and mystery lovers will likely enjoy the tangles and twists of the tale.

My favorite parts of The Elusive Truth of Lily Temple lay in its themes. Politano effectively demonstrated the power of story and the concept that our stories tend to come full circle. I loved the restoration theme as well as the tidbits about the soul's desire to return to its deep longings, whether it's a personal yearning or a universal desire shared by humanity. Such themes aren't often explored in Christian Fiction, and I found them refreshing.

Because I struggled to connect with Lily, The Elusive Truth of Lily Temple was not my favorite novel by Joanna Davidson Politano, but it was well-written and held depth without feeling heavy. For those who love fairy tales, the imagery and allusions will add delight. The story is best suited for readers who enjoy mystery, whimsy, and a slow burn romance.

About the Author

A wife, mom, author, marriage and family counselor, a former AP Psychology teacher, and a podcaster, Jennifer draws from her life experiences and imagination to connect with her readers and listeners through the written and spoken word.

Married to her childhood best friend and the mom of a creative daughter, Jennifer enjoys a quiet life on their farm in Alabama. When she’s not wearing one of her many hats, you’ll find her tucked away with a book and what’s likely her third coffee of the day.

Author Interview with Jennifer

Q: What was the inspiration behind this novel?

Jennifer: The Lost and Found is book two of the No Matter What series (don’t worry, it can be read as a standalone!). I needed to know that my characters were in a good place after the first book because as crazy as it sounds, the characters I write may as well be real people to me.

More than that, I felt like Mark Collins had some growing to do which I think he does beautifully throughout the book.

Q: How long did it take you to write this novel?

Jennifer: That’s a tough one because there’s not a cut and dried answer. I started writing it the day after I sent its predecessor to the editor which was in April 2022. The story’s beginning and end flowed until it didn’t. I hit a huge creative block and decided to step away for a couple of months. A couple of days after New Year’s 2023 I poured a week into it and wrapped it up. It went through edits and beta reads and was published in June 2023!

Q: What was the most surprising thing you discovered while researching and writing this novel?

Jennifer: I don’t know that it was surprising but I had fun asking my dad (a former law enforcement officer) questions about procedures and tactics!

Q: Do any of the novel’s characters hold a special place in your heart?

Jennifer: I love Marí, who you really get to meet in No Matter What but my love for her just carried over because she was inspired by a number of people we met one summer in the Dominican Republic as we pursued our own adoption (which is another long and tragic story for another day). The people and the culture in the D.R. is beautiful and I wanted Jess to have someone in her life pouring out love and truth in her darkest of days just like we did.

But also, Cal – he is just… he’s everything you would want in a man who might step up as a father figure, a grandfather figure, and a friend. His wisdom is solid and his heart is made of gold.

Q: Do you have a favorite quote from this novel?

Jennifer: As a matter of fact, I do. It’s more of an excerpt that I love. It comes from a point in the novel where Jess’s past and her present are clashing and it’s producing a lot of emotions she hasn’t quite processed completely.

Grief can be a funny thing, as I’ve learned. There are days it makes you grateful for the time you had. Then there are moments like this that dredge up parts of the past that hurt and bring up reminders of days best forgotten. And that’s something else I’ve learned – Time may heal old wounds, but the scars left behind are never erased, unable to be forgotten.

Q: What do you hope readers take away from this novel?

Jennifer: Family are the people who love you unconditionally regardless of their blood-relation. And when you’re part of God’s family, you’re never alone – even in the most hopeless of situations.

Q: If the novel was made into a movie, who would like you to see play the main characters?

Jennifer: Oooo This is a FUN question! And it’s actually one I’ve thought about a few times.

Mark: If Jim Caviezel was about 15 years younger he’d be my first pick BUT since he isn’t, I think Chris Pratt would make a fantastic Mark Collins
Jess: Alexa PenaVega
John: John Schneider
Deborah: Patricia Heaton
Marí: Liza Colón-Zayas
Cal would 100% be Sam Elliot

Q: Would you share something about yourself that most readers wouldn’t know?

Jennifer: Before I was an adult, I thought Christian Fiction/Christian Romance Novels were only for old ladies haha! We can all interpret that the way we need to before moving on.

Q: In what setting do you enjoy writing the most?

Jennifer: I love my office and desk area. I have a sit and stand desk so I can move when I start getting antsy. My desk is full of fidgets that I can manipulate while I’m thinking or daydreaming. I can’t listen to music while I write because music is as distracting as a good book. Even instrumental music will distract me.

Q: What are you reading now?

Jennifer: I am currently re-listening to the Harry Potter series – I’m on Book 4.

Q: How many bookshelves are in your home?

Jennifer: Surprisingly, fewer than most people think considering how much I read. The answer is currently three though I am debating a fourth. Most of my reading is e-book or audiobook because I don’t have room for a library. My next house, however…

Q: Who is an author you would recommend to anyone and everyone?

Jennifer: Jenny B. Jones is a consistent high rating author for me as is Carina Taylor and Sarah Adams!

Q: What do you like to do when you aren't writing?

Jennifer: I host a podcast for creatives and I co-host a podcast for authors. If I’m not podcasting, writing, or scrolling social media, I’m reading!

Q: Where can readers find out more about you and your novel?

Jennifer: My website, jcarrwrites.com, has links to all of my books, my works in progress, and the bonus materials like deleted scenes and bonus epilogues.

If you want to get to know me, I have a Facebook page and a TikTok channel that I utilize most frequently and I LOVE interacting with readers and other authors. @jcarrwrites (for both)

More from Jennifer

The Lost and Found is the second book of the No Matter What series but can be read as a standalone. I needed to make sure my characters were happy and healthy after their adventures in the book one so the day I sent No Matter What to my editor, I started writing The Lost and Found.

I love to bake and when I was pregnant with our daughter, I craved all things sweet. One of the characters in the book has a similar craving so I created a recipe for her to enjoy. I’d love to share it with you.

“Wait!” Brett ran after her. “He could still be dangerous.”

Keeley knelt beside the man and lifted the bandana from his face. She sucked in a breath. “I’ve seen him before.”

“Where?”

She paused as if searching her memory. “I don’t remember.”

Brett placed his fingers on the man’s neck. “He’s gone.” He searched his pockets for some type of identification but only found a picture.

He gazed at it intently. A redheaded boy wearing a backpack, leaving a school with a woman. He handed the photo to Keeley. “Do you know this boy?”

She looked at the picture and blasted upright. “No!”

He pushed himself to his feet, grazing her arm. “Keels, who is it?”

Her eyes widened before softening. “My—your son.”

What?

He had a son?

And now the boy was in danger.

John Bishop had traveled extensively and done everything from balance on the edge of a cliff to swim with sharks, all to capture the perfect photo. So it was more than a little humiliating to be brought down by a child’s skipping rope.

He didn’t know that kids still jumped rope, or maybe they just did things like that in places like Living Skies, Saskatchewan, a place with the kind of homespun charm that could make you believe that life was all about jumping rope, singing songs in church and baking apple pies.

Of course, John knew from experience that not everything in Living Skies was picture-perfect.

The pain that ripped through him when he tried to shift to a more comfortable position wasn’t just from his badly sprained ankle.

John suppressed a moan, but the receptionist at the front counter of the Elmview Physical Therapy Clinic still looked up with a sympathetic smile.

“The physical therapist is almost finished with her current client,” she said encouragingly. “She’ll be with you soon.”

John nodded, stoic again.

Book Review: These Tangled Threads by Sarah Loudin Thomas

 About the Book:

Set in the shadow of Biltmore Estate, a poignant tale of friendship, restoration, and second chances.

Seven years ago, a hidden betrayal scattered three young friends living in the shadow of the great Vanderbilt mansion. Now, when Biltmore Industries master weaver Lorna Blankenship is commissioned to create an original design for Cornelia Vanderbilt's 1924 wedding, she panics knowing she doesn't have the creativity needed. But there's an elusive artisan in the Blue Ridge Mountains who could save her--if only she knew where to begin.

To track down the mysterious weaver, Lorna sees no other way than to seek out the relationships she abandoned in shame. As she pulls at each tangled thread from her past, Lorna is forced to confront the wounds and regrets of life long ago. She'll have to risk the job that shapes her identity, as well as the hope of friendship--and love--restored.

My Thoughts:

Like a handwoven fabric, the story in These Tangled Threads took time to form and held complexity. I confess, Gentry’s attitudes and Lorna’s actions early on made it difficult for me to like them and be invested in their narratives. The time jumps and character switches also added to my disconnect. However, my admiration of Sarah Loudin Thomas’ prior novels compelled me to continue reading. Within the pages, I found well-crafted prose and pleasing depth as the story explored guilt, shame, alcohol addiction, and family dysfunction. These hard topics were offset by kindness, faith, forgiveness, and generosity which added a heartwarming feel.

Since reading These Tangled Threads by Sarah Loudin Thomas, I’ve started examining cloth – skirts, blankets, scarves, etc – trying to determine the warp and the weft. Early on, the author introduced the process of handweaving cloth, an essential element of the story. With so many terms and steps, I found it necessary to watch a video to understand the procedure; however, learning about this subject fascinated me and it was my main takeaway from the novel. Although These Tangled Threads is not my favorite book by Sarah Loudin Thomas, I’ll continue reading her books.

Janae Simmons left the small town of Kedgewick, Virginia, ten years ago to pursue her legal career and never looked back--until a professional mistake leads her to her grandmother's historic carriage house and to the town where her past threatens to find her. The quiet streets echo with her grandfather's sterling reputation, one that conflicts with fresh questions that claw at Janae, launching her on a reluctant journey to unearth his secrets. When her new job at a local law firm doesn't live up to expectations, she wonders if coming home was the right decision.

Carter Montgomery starts his art preservation career with the only job he can get--director at the Elliott Museum of Art. At least Kedgewick is a nice enough town to provide him and his nephew with a safe place to grieve the loss of Carter's sister. But Carter's calm days disappear when an elderly woman claims two paintings in the museum's collection were stolen from her family during World War II.

Carter enlists Janae's help to unravel the legal labyrinth of art ownership, and the peaceful facade of Kedgewick morphs into a hot bed of secrets. Excerpt

Butterflies fluttered aggressively in Janae’s stomach as she steeled herself for her first day at a new law firm. Ashley and Ashby filled the role of a small-town Virginia fixture. She remembered the original Ashley and Ashby as overweight, seersucker-clad old men who’d scared her as a child. Now her best option was walking through that door and working for their sons. Mark Ashby had gone to school with Janae’s mother and had assured Janae they’d have work for someone with her skills. However, the way he said it made her think he didn’t believe she had skills. After all, what could she learn in the big city that would have value in good ole Kedgewick?

Guess she’d demonstrate exactly what she could offer. She straightened her bright red peplum suit jacket over its matching skirt, then opened the door and strode into the reception area.

A mousy woman with teased hair grimaced at her. “Can I help you? We don’t open for another fifteen minutes.”

Janae paused, a bit taken aback, because this wasn’t her mother’s friend whom she knew well from church, the one she’d talked with when setting up the position. “I expected Caroline Stone. She asked me to arrive now to get set up.”

“Caroline is out for several weeks with an emergency. I’m filling in for her.”

“Oh.” Janae puffed a quick breath as she recalibrated, and then held out her hand. “I’m Janae Simmons, the new attorney.”

Book Review: Running to You by Robin Patchen

About the Book:

Sam never understood why Eliza left him five years ago, ghosting him without explanation. He’s avoided romance ever since, focusing on building his business. Money might not keep him warm at night, but it can sure buy a lot of blankets.

Then Eliza shows up on his doorstep and throws herself into his arms. She can’t explain her bruises or the head injury that’s left her with no memories of the past five years, including their breakup. No matter how good it feels to hold her, though, there’s no way he’s getting sucked into romance again.

He’ll deliver Eliza to her mother, and that will be that. But instead of finding her mom, they’re met by two attackers and barely escape alive. Despite the danger to his life and his heart, he can’t leave Eliza to fend for herself.

Together, they embark on a journey to reconstruct her past while evading the men chasing her. As Sam and Eliza close in on the truth, their romance reignites, but her secret threatens to destroy them both.

Prepare to be enthralled by this gripping story of amnesia, a second chance at love, and a secret baby. Running to You is an edge-of-your-seat Christian romantic suspense set in Maine that will keep you reading all night long.

My Thoughts:

Running to You by Robin Patchen commenced The Wright Heroes of Maine series and I want to read them all! This novel gripped my attention from the beginning and was terribly difficult to put down. First, the action and mystery weaved together to create a constantly moving (and entertaining) plot. Some of my guesses at what had happened were totally off! Second, due to Sam and Eliza’s past mistakes, both characters had to develop individually and together. The characters felt real as they worked through the messiness. Third, the second-chance romance had the perfect balance of tension and attraction which led to plenty of swoony moments.

Running to You by Robin Patchen is an independently published, romantic suspense novel, but it felt professional and lacked the inferior editing present in some indie books. I’d happily read this novel again. 4.5 Stars!

“Knowing you were alive wasn’t closure, Bex. Now I know why you did what you did, but I feel like we have three dots after our names.”

“An ellipsis?”

Tiberius grinned. “You were always the smarter one.”

“I don’t know about that.”

“How many perfect shells do you find out here?” He rolled the tiny pieces through his fingers.

“Not many.”

“We’re all broken, aren’t we? We’ve all been chipped away at in one form or other. Beaten up. Beaten down. Lied to. Exposed, exploited. Betrayed,” he whispered. “We never arrive on sandy shores unscathed.”

“No. We don’t. We carry scars, little chips and cracks. They reveal our story, but there’s hope, Tiberius. There’s always hope that what was marred can be mended.”

His eyes filled with moisture. “I could use some hope. Some mending.”

Couldn’t they all? Without hope, there was no meaning in life. The ocean was vast and shadowy, always reminding her that darkness lurked and was immense, terrifying and unpredictable, but when dawn peeped over the horizon it brought light to the darkness and color. Vibrant and beautiful. That was hope—light piercing the darkness, overwhelming it with its glory and majesty, bringing a new day and fresh mercy. Light chased away shadows and sparkled on the shores, beckoning one to come and stand in its presence with outstretched arms and to be wrapped in its warmth. Yielding to hope was possible. For Tiberius. For anyone who wanted to come and partake.

Author Interview with Jessica

Q: What was the inspiration behind The Garden Girls?

Jessica: I was thinking about temptation and how sin leads to bondage and how it’s rarely something we recognize as evil. We’d all run from horns and a pitchfork so to speak. But the enemy masquerades as an angel of light. Those thoughts birthed a wicked villain who doesn’t appear wicked at all, but strikingly good-looking and tempting. He’s a different kind of villain because he doesn’t actually force his victims to his “lair”. They willingly come due to his deception and charm. Then he gives them the choice and once they’ve accepted, he cages them. Then they see the horror they missed before. And from there, the story bloomed (see what I did there).

Q: How long did it take you to write this story?

Jessica: I had 3 months to write The Garden Girls including initial revisions before I sent it to my editor.

Q: Do you have a favorite quote from this book?

Jessica: I do but I can’t share it because it’s a spoiler! ☺ But I’ll share a funny quote I love from Ty when he’s flustered seeing Bexley again and he’s angry because he thought she was dead for so long (not spoiler; he finds this out in A Cry in the Dark).

His jaw pulsed again. “Well, we can start with the fact you’re a liar.”

She wasn’t expecting the barbs so quickly. But that was Tiberius. Flying off the handle before collecting facts. No wonder he had a viral video out there about a serial killer. “I see you’re still quick to jump to conclusions and impulsivity.”

He slung his hand in the air toward her. “I see you still can’t do anything with your hair.”

Q: What is your favorite aspect of writing romantic suspense?

Jessica: Whether I’m writing romantic suspense with my Love Inspired Suspense books or like, The Garden Girls, a psychological thriller, it’s the twists! Not just revealing who the villain is, but all the unpredictable twists throughout the story. I love a good jaw-drop so I know other readers in these genres will too and so you have to deliver.

Q: How long ago did you start writing?

Jessica: I wrote my first book in 2009 for publication, but I’ve always been a storyteller and have written stories all my life—like most writers.

Q: What is your favorite thing about being a writer?

Jessica: Good question! So many things. I love working at home and setting my own schedule. I love meeting people when I’m researching and learning about their lives and jobs. But mostly my favorite thing is being able to share real hope through fictional characters and know that someone will be ministered to because of it.

Q:Do you prefer to read ebooks or physical copies?

Jessica: I’ll be honest, these days it’s neither. It’s audiobooks. I’m so busy writing in my quiet hours that the only time I have to read is on my hour morning walk with the dog, my hour at the gym and when I’m cleaning or cooking or folding clothes. Audiobooks have been a fabulous way to pass that time and I’ve actually read more books this way, but I love books in any form. ☺

Q: How many bookcases are in your home?

Jessica: What a fun question! I have 8 bookshelves and that’s only because thousands upon thousands of books are on my Kindle.

Q:Would you share something about yourself that most readers would not know?

Jessica: I’m pretty open and share a lot of myself on my Facebook page and through my newsletter, but I’m not sure how many readers know that I attended Bible college and majored in Missions. It’s where I met my husband who is an ordained minister, though he’s a corporate guy now. I feel like he pastors his company. ☺

Q: What do you like to do when you are not writing?

Jessica: I love spending time at the library, eating tacos and talking true crime with girlfriends—literally this is what we do. I love the beach and visit a few times a year with my husband and I’m a big binger of TV, especially murder documentaries but I suppose that’s no surprise. And obviously reading whether eBook, paperback or audio.

A bargain that will extinguish Abigail’s last hope of a happily-ever-after. If only she could return to the mountains of Asheville, North Carolina, she might have a chance to reunite with the only man who has the power to save her reputation.

Garrett Barringer arrives in Charlotte, North Carolina to escape a past that no longer wants him. He takes an undisclosed position with Mr. Dupree. When it is revealed that part of Mr. Dupree’s purpose for bringing him on board is to chaperone his beloved daughter, Garrett abruptly discovers that he has taken on more than he bargained for. Abigail Dupree is more beguiling than any other woman he’s encountered, but he must resist his heart for the sake of propriety and to keep a promise made to her father.

When her father hires Garrett Barringer, a man that seems far too young to be a lawyer, and possesses far too many favorable characteristics, Abigail resists his charm but cannot deny her heart is compelling her toward him. But she will not allow the man to ruin an opportunity she has waited for nearly five years.

Garrett is suddenly aware what his life was and what it could become in the presence of Abigail Dupree. Will he be able to give up the woman who has stolen his heart, for her happiness?

Abigail stands to lose all if Garrett Barringer sees past her physical beauty and uncovers the ugliness of her imperfect past. Will Abigail continue on the condemned path she’s fashioned for herself, or trust that God wants a future for her she never believed possible?

Excerpt

Oh, dear heavens, she could kiss the man. “Thank you very much, Mr. Barringer.”

Ridges scored into the flesh above his eyes. “You remembered my name?”

Her cheeks burned for more than one reason as he tilted his head, leaving her with that crooked smile, and disappearing into the crowd.

Had it been wrong to say his name? Had she given him an indication that he was memorable? Of course, she was mostly thankful she had not blurted his given name since the name Garrett had been swimming around in her head since their earlier meeting. Abigail wasn’t quite sure how she felt about being persuaded to accept Mr. Barringer’s thoughtfulness. She was only certain she must broaden the distance between them. There was something intriguing about the man—a charming blend of strength, gentility, and charisma. And even though this was only her second encounter with him, her fascination had already deepened beyond harmless curiosity.

A rarity for her, indeed. Then the thought of actually kissing him robbed her of her breath.

Oh, dear heavens, indeed!

Book Excerpt

Swallowing the dread settling like a noose around my throat, I hurried out the door, ignoring the bustle of servants and the scents of the midday meal preparations. I tossed the cold ashes onto the heap outside the pig pen, barely hearing their grunts as they rooted in the mud. Heat warmed my shoulders and danced across my cheeks. I raised my face to the sun, longing for … what? Something elusive. Something I had no words to describe.

“Ah, there she is. The Red Bird of Paradise.”

My smile grew at the mention of my old nickname. Dear Matias. His white teeth flashed and he stopped next to the sty, taking a moment to wipe his stained shirtsleeve against his sweaty forehead. Gray peppered his springy curls.

“It’ll be a hot one today, eh, Red Bird?”

I nodded and smiled at the old nickname. Matias had called me Red Bird of Paradise ever since I had been brought to the island, declaring that my red hair reminded him of the tropical bloom. Only Molly and Master Cyrene remembered my real name. To everyone else, I was that girl.

I didn’t mind being invisible. Invisible was safe.

This morning, new strength fortified her and refused to let go.

Even if Rory trampled her heart into pieces, she would get to the bottom of this.

Vi rubbed her puffy eyes, not wanting to look in a mirror— no doubt she looked atrocious.

Decision made, she flew through her morning routine. Plaiting her hair, she remembered Rory playing with the loose strands. With shaky fingers, she undid the long braid, then pulled it back with a band. She wouldn’t go down without a fight. She donned an outfit and applied makeup. The earrings he’d given her stayed on the dresser. Showing grit was all well and good. Acting like a lovesick idiot? Not so much.

If he meant what he said in the break-up text, maybe she’d hang in Houston awhile to figure out Plan B.

Did that mean Rory was Plan A?

Vi left to find out.

Author Interview with Mary

Q: What was the inspiration behind Lovin’ on Red?

Mary: I wrote the first draft of Lovin’ On Red during our country’s deep isolation due to COVID. It was such a bewildering time, I wanted to give readers something to look forward to.

Q: How long did it take you to write this story?

Mary: The first draft took about three months, but the revisions took much longer. I worked on it in between learning how to market and doing my first book launch and debut release, so probably a solid year of devotion to Lovin’ On Red.

Q: Do you have a favorite quote from this book?

Mary: I have several but my all-time favorite is when Rory goes to Houston. Here’s the excerpt:

Rory gently clasped her raised hand with one of his, then caught a tendril of hair flying across her face with his other hand and tucked it behind her ear. “You need to set aside the knee-jerk reaction. The one where you shut me out. I love you, Vi. You don’t have anything to fear from me.” His calm, reasonable voice steadied her, though her mind insisted on reciting the reasons she left.

Q: What do you hope readers take away from Lovin’ on Red

Mary: I want readers to see the extravagant grace of God at work and realize, maybe hope for the first time, that His grace and goodness isn’t limited to our understanding of how it’s supposed to happen.

Q: Lovin’ on Red has such a cute cover. Do you have a favorite cover from among the books you’ve written?

Mary: Thank you. I also love it. Our graphics editor does a lovely job. Probably my favorite is my first book Countin’ On Jesse. The vector image I chose for Jesse, though I didn’t know it at the time, resembles a portrait my mom painted of my dad. He’s in heaven now, but the images are eerily similar. And I love how it set the tone for the other book covers in the series.

Q: Would you share something about yourself that most readers would not know?

Mary: In addition to teaching high school for a long time, I taught Bible classes to adults for years. How that translates to writing romance, I’ve never been able to figure out, except God’s pursuit of us is the best love story of all time.

Q: How long ago did you start writing?

Mary: I’ve dabbled at it for years, but seven years ago, I realized I needed to actively pursue it or I wouldn’t accomplish my goal of becoming a published author. I had to let go of “good” things and treat it like a job instead of a hobby.

Q: What is your favorite thing about being a writer?

Mary: I enjoy the creative act of writing and sharing my heart through stories. And it’s also quite pleasant to work from home.

Q: Do you prefer to read ebooks or physical copies?

Mary: For fiction, I love ebooks. However, when I do research or Bible study, I prefer hard copies that I can mark up.

Q: How many bookcases are in your home?

Mary: At this writing, I have three overflowing bookcases. For years, I’ve given books away, and that’s also part of the reason I like ebooks. They don’t take up near as much space.

Q: What do you like to do when you are not writing?

Mary: You can always find me reading a good book. I enjoy cooking too and make time to try out new recipes. And I’m crazy looking forward to meeting my Brazilian daughter-in-law and helping her learn how to do life in the States.
